In a predicted move from media giant Apple Co., the Australian iTunes store now contains TV shows.

Australian iTunes users are now greeted with a selection from Australian networks, ABC and Nine Network along with US Movie studios ABC Studios, Disney Channel and MTV.

Episodes are priced at $2.99 each and are available through the iTunes software available for Mac and Windows. The TV shows contain DRM (Digital Rights Management) and are able to be played back on computers that have the iTunes software installed.

TV shows can be synched to the latest generation of Apple’s iPod music players including the iPod Nano, iPod Touch and the iPod Classic.

The news of TV shows on the Australian iTunes store coincides with other recent news that Australia is to be one of the first of 20+ countries to receive the new iPhone 3G.
